James Bournes work is inspired by everyday journies, conversations and thoughts. The work is humorous, but often has dark undertones. A recent piece of work explored the possibility of what lied in an unopened envelope that has been sealed since February 1970. One idea was that the letter was from a School Headmaster, informing a Mother that her son's head had got caught in a giant pencil sharpener. Another, was an invitation to the launch party of Norman Greenbaum's single, Spirit in the Sky. Having recently become an A level Art tutor, James is now focusing on how traditional methods of Art can inform his work.
